Are my garage door springs broken?
If you're wondering if yours are broken, keep reading...
Last week my kids and I were leaving for school and noticed our garage door springs were hanging about two inches above our car. My daughter Lucy asked, "Daddy, are they broken?" Hmmm... I thought. That doesn't look right.
After I dropped them off, I came back to the house to take another look at our broken garage door springs. As a homeowner, I don't like making big repairs myself. Why? There's too much that can go wrong and to be honest, I'm no expert.
So I grabbed my ladder and took a closer look at our garage door springs. I was hoping it would be a quick fix. But it was bad. What I noticed is they had too much slack. It made sense as the night before I had trouble using my Genie garage door opener. When I pressed the button all I heard was a grinding noise. Then the doors closed, but very slowly almost as if something was wrong. I'm no handyman but even I could tell it was time to think about some garage door broken spring repair. The problem became worse when I noticed the springs were missing a few of the coil parts. Apparently, the garage door replacement that had been done to our home before we bought it was ready for an upgrade very soon.
Our Garage Door Repair services Are Meticulous and Solve All Issues
Too many homeowners think they can make these types of repairs themselves to save money instead of paying for garage door service. I've heard from a few of my neighbors how you can repair the springs on your own by tightening the bolt assembly. Although after I did that, I still had the same problem as they were obviously hanging too low. Even after I pulled out the owner's manual, I still could not determine the exact way to adjust them, so I decided to contact the professionals from garage door repair Magna who took care of it quickly, to my satisfaction.
